This summer, a new research group will start at Paderborn University, focussing on the security of so-called cyber-physical systems. These are technical systems that only function through their networking via IT and the internet.

Rose Sunil, a graduate of the Computer Science master's programme at Paderborn University, was awarded the Paderborn University Society's prize for outstanding theses for her outstanding master's thesis in the field of software engineering and artificial intelligence.

In the summer semester, Paderborn University is once again inviting all interested parties to various public lecture series on numerous socially relevant topics. Teaching staff and researchers from the university's five faculties, as well as external experts, will address a wide range of scientific aspects each week.
On 9 March 2026, the coolMINT.paderborn school laboratory in Osnabrück was awarded second place in the "Mobile offers" category at the 21st annual LernortLabor conference. The prize, donated by the Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation, honours the outstanding "MINT 4.OWL" project, which was created as part of the BMBFJS's MINT Cluster funding.
Every year, the DAAD Prize for International Students is awarded to students who, in addition to very good academic achievements, are particularly committed to society.

To coincide with International Mathematics Day, the international mathematics competition "Náboj" took place for the first time at Paderborn University on Friday, 13 March.
Paderborn University's traditional New Year's Reception took place on Sunday, 18 January 2026. At the event in the Audimax with around 400 guests, the university once again honoured outstanding achievements by academics and students.
