The faculty mourns the death of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Meerkötter, who passed away at the age of 78. He was appointed in 1983 for the department of message theory at the University of Paderborn. From 1991 to 1993 he was dean of the then Department of Electrical Engineering and from 2004 to 2009 second dean of the new Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics. In addition, he was Vice-Rector for Research and Young Scientists from 1995 to 1999 and Speaker of the University's Academic Senate from 2007 to 2009. "Prof. Dr.-Eng. Meerkötter was committed to the faculty and the university far beyond what is customary in academic self-government. With him, we are losing not only a professionally outstanding colleague and university teacher, but also a member of the academic community who contributed significantly to the successful development of the faculty and university," said Prof. Dr. Schreier, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics.
